Porsche has completed the facelifted Macan series with the new GTS, featuring a more powerful engine, performance orientated chassis and updated equipment.
Powering the new GTS (short for Gran Turismo Sport – which Porsche’s compact SUV has well and truly earned thanks to it’s outstanding driving dynamics) is a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo that produces 280 kW and 520 Nm, available between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm. These figures are up by 15 kW and 20Nm over it’s predecessor. It also comes standard with a GTS specific sports exhaust system to further accentuate the driving experience.
When combined with the newly adapted PDK dual-clutch transmissio and optional Sport Chrono package, the new Macan GTS will do the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.7 seconds (three tenths quicker than the outgoing model), and reach a top speed of 261 km/h.
The chassis on the Macan GTS also sites 15 millimeters lower for greater lateral dynamics, with the optional adaptive air suspension able to lower it again a further 10 millimeters. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping control system has also been specifically tuned for the GTS.
Stopping power comes courtesy of 360 millimeter brake rotors up the front, and 330 millimeter rotors at the rear, clamped by striking red brake calipers, sitting behind 20-inch satin-gloss black RS Spyder Design wheels. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is also available as an option, as well as Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) with tungsten carbide coating.
The standard fitted Sport Design Package features new front and rear trims with side skirts, and black painted elements on the front apron and front section further distinguishing the GTS from other models. At the rear, the diffuser and tailpipes are also painted in high-gloss black.
LED Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the three-dimensional rear lights with LED bar come darkened as standard, with the availability to order the LED headlights in black when PDLS Plus is optioned.
Alcantara centre panels on the seats, centre console armrest and door panels flanked by brushed aluminium surfaces adorn the interior of the GTS, further reinforcing it’s statement of sport and elegance in one.
Eight-way adjustable seats with pronounced side bolsters for support during dynamic cornering are fitted as standard. Fourteen-way adjustable comfort seats are also optional at zero cost. The multi-functional sports steering wheel is wrapped in smooth leather, with shift paddles located behind. Further personalisation such as a BOSE Surround Sound System, or having your interior in Carmine Red or Crayon with additional Alcantara highlights are also available.
Standard equipment on the GTS includes driver memory package, digital radio, Apple CarPlay with Siri voice recognition, ParkAssist with Reverse Camera and Surround View, Privacy Glass, Side Airbags in the rear compartment and auto dimming mirrors. The Macan GTS has a 75-litre fuel tank as standard.
Adaptive cruise control, Lane Change Assist, Front Seat Heating and a heated windscreen are available as options.
The new Macan GTS is available to order now from your local Porsche dealer, price from $109,700 excluding on-road costs, with deliveries expected from the first quarter of 2020.
