Today Mitsubishi Motors Australia introduced the 2020 Mirage, with a new look and more safety gear leading the changes.
“Customers looking for style and reliability will love the new 2020 Mirage. We have made some significant and thoughtful changes to improve the ownership experience. I believe we have addressed all the key areas which we know our customers value in this segment,” said Owen Thomson, Senior Manager for Product Strategy.
Starting at the front you are greeted by chunky new bumpers with large, angular recesses on each corner to broaden its stance and give it a more solid front-on appearance, sleek aerodynamic lines – all working to give you Mitsubishi Dynamic Shield design philosphy.
The rear has also been treated to newly designed squared-off bumpers, giving the new Mirage a wider look and greater presence, along with a colour-key rear spoiler and an LED high-mount stop lamp for increased safety. LS-spec models also gain new 15-inch wheels, new LED headlamps with headlamp levelling, LED daytime running lamps, and LED rear combination lamps.
Power comes courtesty of a responsive 1.2L MPI MiVEC petrol engine that develops maximum power of 57kW @ 6000rpm and maximum torque of 100Nm at 4000rpm. There are two choices for transmission for the ES model, a five-speed manual and a CVT auto. Top spec LS models are only available with the CVT transmission.
Cargo capacity is 235L with second row seats upright or 599L with the rear seats folded. A cargo cover is standard, along with a 12V accessory socket in the rear.
For the first time, the Mitsubishi Mirage will come fitted with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth/USB and digital radio. There’s also a rear-view camera fitted as standard.
Standard safety features include Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) and the LS also gains Lane Departure Warning (LDW) technology.
When stepping up from the ES, the LS grade brings additional style and convenience with new 15-inch alloy wheels with two-tone diamond-cut styling, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, rear privacy glass, LED headlamps (with automatic high beam), daytime running lamps and rear lamps.
